The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has developed a tool to identify geographic areas of Spain best suited for renewable energy projects. The new tool models information for both wind and photovoltaic projects and evaluates the environmental factors for different physical locations.

Launching a large-scale renewable facility has its own impact on the environment, so each installation must still undertake impact assessments.

The tool should be used alongside the planning and management regulations in each Autonomous Community of Spain to help select locations for renewable energy projects.

You can view the tool, and download background information on it, through the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI).
