‘Chile Despega’: a blooming opportunity

Chile's Atacama is known as the world's driest desert, yet when rare rains arrive, it can burst into an extraordinary display of flowers. President José Antonio Kast is hoping 'Chile Despega' can bring a similar revival to the country's economy.

Economic outlook for Chile

With unemployment at 9.5%, his government has unveiled a plan to mobilize approximately USD $1.35 billion and create more than 100,000 jobs through infrastructure projects, hiring incentives and support for businesses.

For companies, the plan could open several doors. Construction and engineering firms can watch for accelerated public works; employers may benefit from expanded hiring subsidies; and smaller businesses could gain access to credit backed by stronger government guarantees.

For businesses, 'Chile Despega' could create new projects, expand teams and ease access financing. Just as rare rains allow the Atacama to bloom, these measures could help companies turn growth plans into investment, jobs and new activity across Chile.
