Colombia: transfer pricing compliance deadlines
Related-party companies operating in Colombia and located in free trade zones -as well as entities established in non-cooperative jurisdictions or low- or no-tax jurisdictions- must prepare to comply with transfer pricing obligations for fiscal year 2025.
The deadline for filing the Transfer Pricing Informative Return and the Supporting Documentation (Local File and Master File, where applicable) falls in September 2026. Therefore, it is essential to begin reviewing intercompany transactions and preparing the required documentation in Colombia well in advance.
What has changed?
The tax authorities have been strengthening their audit procedures regarding related-party transactions. The Colombian Tax Administration has increased its scrutiny of: the economic substance of transactions; the proper allocation of functions, assets, and risks; and the consistency between the documentation submitted and the operational reality of business groups.
In this context, companies must pay particular attention to ensuring consistency between their transfer pricing policies, financial results, and the supporting documentation prepared at both the local and international levels.
Who is affected?
These obligations primarily affect:
- Colombian companies carrying out transactions with foreign related parties;
- companies conducting transactions with related parties located in free trade zones;
- companies carrying out transactions with entities located in non-cooperative jurisdictions or low- or no-tax jurisdictions;
- multinational groups with operations in Colombia that may be required to file a Local File, Master File, or Country-by-Country Report (CbCR).
The specific obligation will depend on whether the thresholds for equity, revenue, and transaction volume established under Colombian regulations are met.
Key dates
The filing period for the Transfer Pricing Informative Return and the Supporting Documentation is scheduled between September 9 and September 22, 2026. The exact deadline varies according to the last digit of the taxpayer’s tax identification number.
Meanwhile, the Country-by-Country Report (CbCR), where applicable, must be submitted by December 15, 2026.
Best practices for transfer pricing documentation
Public authorities have begun implementing greater oversight of companies engaged in related-party transactions in line with OECD guidelines adopted by governments. Therefore, it is advisable to follow a number of recommendations:
- Confirm in a timely manner whether there is an obligation to file the Informative Return and/or the Supporting Documentation.
- Identify and quantify transactions carried out with related parties.
- Review the correct functional characterization of the entities involved.
- Verify that the transfer pricing policies applied during the fiscal year are properly reflected in the financial results.
- Validate consistency between local documentation and the group’s global documentation.
- Prepare the economic analyses and supporting documentation required by the DIAN well in advance.
