On February 19, 2026, Auxadi’s offices in Coral Gables (Florida) hosted the Bizz Breakfast “Winds of Change: Investing in the Americas’ Renewable Future”, organized in collaboration with Ontier. The event brought together energy sector experts to analyze the current state of renewable markets in the Americas and Europe, anticipating the trends that will define the 2026 fiscal year in a context characterized by higher regulatory, technical, and financial demands.
On behalf of Auxadi, Manrique Blen, LATAM Regional Director, participated as moderator. Manrique was responsible for leading the session and stimulating the exchange between Ontier’s experts, a suitable group to facilitate a strategic debate focused on the real execution challenges currently facing energy investment.
Execution, regulation, and storage
The session opened with a presentation by Marta Corbí, Country Manager of Ontier USA, who offered a panoramic view of the state of the markets where the firm maintains an active presence: Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, the United States, and Chile. In addition to a reference to Spain, she established the strategic framework for understanding the new investment cycle. The main conclusion was that, although capital remains available for the renewable sector, the bankability of projects increasingly depends on certainty in grid access, correct regulatory structure, and discipline in regulatory compliance.
Marta Corbí explained that in the United States, 25% of utility-scale generation is already renewable. Growth continues to be significant, although conditioned by interconnection frameworks and the effective implementation of federal policies.
On the other hand, referring to Mexico, a country with nearly 30% renewable generation, opportunities are concentrated in industrial PPAs and large-scale solar expansion. Nonetheless, regulatory clarity and administrative timelines continue to set the pace of development. In this sense, Peru was presented as one of the most attractive markets in the region thanks to its macroeconomic stability and the strong energy demand linked to mining, while Bolivia offers high potential accompanied by greater structural and regulatory challenges. Likewise, in all these markets, energy storage and project hybridization are emerging as determining factors to ensure financial viability and operational resilience.
Next, Pablo Enrile, Partner at Ontier, presented the Spanish market as a true renewable laboratory. Spain has more than 130 GW of projects pending grid access and administrative procedures in the medium-to-long term. The challenges that arise when renewable penetration reaches high levels -grid congestion, energy curtailment, and the need to incorporate storage and flexibility as structural elements of the system- reflect a stage of maturity that many American economies will begin to experience in the coming years.
Pablo Enrile shared the lessons learned in Europe regarding both grid access planning and contractual and financial sophistication. These improvements are being transferred to the Americas, positioning Spain as an advanced market and exporter of technical and regulatory expertise.
The closing was led by Ernesto Correa, Energy Director at Ontier. His intervention provided an in-depth analysis of the Chilean market, one of the systems with the highest renewable penetration in the region. The sectoral reference of this territory is due to 63% of total renewable generation, of which 42% corresponds to non-conventional methods. However, the high volume of energy curtailment recorded in 2025 evidenced that the challenge is no longer the installation of new capacity, but the efficient integration of the system.
The accelerated development of storage is consolidating as a structural pillar to: improve price capture; reduce the risk of congestion; and strengthen the stability of the electrical system. Finally, in this new context, value creation for the investor in 2026 is increasingly linked to the optimization of existing assets and the intelligent integration of flexibility solutions.
A committed energy transition in Latin America
The day concluded with a networking breakfast that allowed attendees to exchange impressions and explore possible collaboration opportunities. The consensus was that the renewable sector in the Americas maintains significant potential, driven by industrial demand, decarbonization processes, and the growth of corporate PPAs. However, the sector requires a phase of: rigorous execution, adequate legal and financial structuring in the integration of storage, and flexibility; elements that are decisive for the success of projects.
With this meeting, Auxadi and Ontier reaffirm their commitment to generating strategic analysis spaces regarding the Americas that accompany investors and developers in an increasingly sophisticated and competitive energy environment, where risk anticipation and regulatory compliance make the difference.
