From the United States to Peru: Auxadi and PromPerú highlight investment opportunities in the country

The Peruvian economy took center stage during the recent Bizz Breakfast ‘Peru, Business & Investments’, hosted at Auxadi’s Miami offices. This presentation was organized in partnership with PromPerú, the state agency for the country’s international promotion.

For one hour, three prominent speakers shared their expertise on distinct topics: ‘Peru, Economy & Trade’; ‘Doing Business in Peru’; and ‘Internationalization Process in Latin America’. The experts who participated in the session were:

  • Manrique Blen, LATAM Regional Director at Auxadi
  • Grethel Celis, Trade Development & Consultant at PromPerú Miami
  • Marta Sesmero, International Trade Consultant at PromPerú Miami

A stabilized economy

The Peruvian economy recorded growth above the Latin American average, reaching 3% in 2025 and ranking as the second fastest-growing country after Argentina. As Marta Sesmero explained, this performance is driven by Peru’s position as a global exporter in the agribusiness sector. Additionally, Sesmero emphasized that the country boasts the lowest inflation rate in the region.

The reach of Peruvian exports impacts major global powers. China has consolidated its position as the primary destination for seafood products, while the United States leads in the reception of agricultural goods, textiles, and manufactured products.

Grethel Celis, representing PromPerú, detailed investment opportunities within an environment defined by high competitiveness and tax incentives. She highlighted the country’s strategic location as a gateway to the Asian market, bolstered by the connectivity of the Port of Chancay to the Pacific Ocean.

U.S. investment in Peru has a well-established track record: the country is the sixth-largest recipient of U.S. capital in Latin America. This bilateral relationship has generated more than 33,800 jobs, with a particular impact on the metallurgy and logistics sectors.

Furthermore, Celis identified sectors with high growth potential for U.S. capital, such as tourism, food, and renewable energy. She noted that 60.5% of the national energy matrix already comes from renewable sources.

Latin America: a competent region

Manrique Blen, LATAM Regional Director for Auxadi, concluded the event in Miami. His deep command of the Latin American market allowed attendees to gain insights into various internationalization processes toward the region.

His analysis of the current socioeconomic situation in Latin America and Peru provided a comprehensive vision for the entry of foreign capital. In this regard, he highlighted mining and infrastructure as strategic sectors for commercial development in the country.

Additionally, he shared critical factors for successful expansion into the Peruvian market, stressing the importance of choosing the right corporate structure, the applicable tax framework, and international trade agreements as fundamental pillars.

Finally, he simplified the understanding of the legal framework regarding payroll management in Peru, detailing the obligations of employers before national institutions.

Peru: a prosperous country for the United States

The ‘Peru, Business & Investments’ gathered a prominent group of CFOs from U.S. multinational corporations. This collaboration between PromPerú and Auxadi is part of an initiative to position Latin America as a high-potential region, highlighting its competitive advantages in raw materials and its strategic location in the global market.
