Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the DGI, has implemented new urgent tax obligations that impact the country’s taxpayers.

Through Resolution No. 201-4984 of 12 July 2022 (and ratified by Resolution No. 201-4393 of 21 July 2022), Panamanian taxpayers must comply, prior to 31 August, with the following obligations:

  • Register with the DGI a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to be responsible for financial information and signatory of documents,
    And,
  • Register/update the status of resident agent.

These are urgent and important obligations, as if they aren’t fulfilled within the indicated deadline, the taxpayer can’t submit documents to the Tax Administration and therefore will be non-compliant.

Our team of professionals in Panama is on hand to support those who need to implement these procedures or if you would like further information on these new obligations.
