Costa Rica’s Transparency and Beneficial Ownership Register is a digitized register of shareholders and beneficial owners. For the 2020/2021 period, the deadline for submission of information is April 30, 2021.
All private, national, or foreign trusts that carry out activities in the country are obliged to submit their information.
Failure to declare will result in a penalty of 2% of gross income for the period prior to the one being declared, with a minimum of CRC 1,386,600 and a maximum of CRC 46,220,000.
The RTBF system will preload the last declaration filed, so that you can adjust only those points which have changed or, if there are no changes, ratify the information and resubmit.
