SAT closes establishments due to lack of CFDI

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reports that operations are being carried out at a national level to verify that taxpayers comply with the fiscal obligation to issue electronic invoices for the sales they make or for the provision of services.

These operations are carried out jointly with the state authorities and from January 1 to October 20, 2016, 11.000 reviews have been carried out, 5.358 fines have been applied for a total of 55.8 million pesos and 565 establishments have been closed.

The auditors check that electronic invoices are being issued, and in cases where a non-compliance with this obligation is detected, the taxpayer has a period of three working days to appeal these observations, submitting those that he deems necessary.

In the event that the taxpayer does not justify the irregularity detected by the SAT, fines ranging from 1.210 to 77.580 pesos will be applied, and taxpayers who are repeat offenders in the same default already observed, their establishment will be pre-emptively closed for a term of 3 to 15 days.
