The President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) announced in La Habana, Cuba, a peace treaty to be signed within the next six months March 2016).

The agreement includes transitional justice in order to try to end a conflict that has been ongoing for more than 50 years. The agreement includes amnesties or pardons, but not for crimes against humanity. Santos stated that the agreement between the government and the FARC is a final goodbye to the last and longest war in Colombia and not only Colombia but throughout America.
